Realistic Glass Flower Creations

The delicate Blaschka glass flowers were painstakingly made by a father and son duo at the end of the 19th and first half of the 20th century. Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka modeled hundreds of species of plants, capturing them in astoundingly lifelike color, shape, and form. Most people who see them can't believe they're made of glass at all!

The artists, with a long heritage of Czech glass working behind them, employed mainly lampwork in their creation of the models and used highly developed skills of observation to faithfully reproduce cacti, trees, flowers, and even fungi.

The collection of these creations is housed at Harvard and is open to the public for viewing.
